Discover three perfect routes for canoeing, a few kilometers from our campsite near Fontainebleau.
canoe grand morin

Bucolic stroll on the Grand Morin

A must for canoeing enthusiasts in Seine-et-Marne is certainly the descent along the Grand Morin. This river, which inspired famous 19th century artists such as Toulouse-Lautrec, Van Gogh and Corot, is a haven of unspoiled nature.

Throughout this pleasant descent, you can admire poplars, windmills and even castles. With a bit of luck, you can even observe swans, ducks and moorhens, and hear the piercing cries of the heron or the kingfisher.

Several routes are offered on the Grand Morin to canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts. For example, leave from Pommeuse (1.5 hours from our campsite in Seine-et-Marne) and sail to Guérard for a 6 km walk. You can also try the 18 km descent, still starting from Pommeuse, which will take you to Crécy-la-Chapelle.

Discovering the Petit Morin by canoe-kayak

Considered the most natural river in the Ile-de-France region, the Petit Morin is an essential circuit for canoeing enthusiasts in Seine-et-Marne. The navigable area of the Petit Morin stretches over 80 km, from Thoult to La Ferté-sous-Jouarre. This narrow and shallow watercourse varies between 3 and 10 metres wide, creating a unique proximity to the surrounding nature. This trip on the water will take you along banks with dense vegetation and allow you to see windmills, horse farms, dams and beautiful residences. Be careful though: when the water is low, the Petit Morin is difficult to navigate. In addition, some natural obstacles along the route will sometimes force you to carry your canoe, which will in no way diminish the charm of your canoeing adventure on the Petit Morin. Although the start of this descent is a little further from our campsite (1 hour 50 minutes), you will undoubtedly appreciate the many rapids it has in store for you.
canoe petit loing
